- Sunset at Baldy Top Is there anything more spectacular than an Outback Sunset? We don’t think so….and we should know, we have the BEST place to see one.
Approximately 7.5km south of Quilpie you will find Baldy Top lookout. A climb to the summit is a relatively easy ten minute scramble where you will be awarded with amazing panoramic views. Don’t get us wrong, Baldy Tops views are spectacular all the time, but Sunset is something you won’t forget!

- Sunrise at the LakeJust like sunset the outback sunrise is a site to see!
Head to ‘The Lake’, 5km east of Quilpie and watch as the sun rises over this beautiful oasis in the desert, shining its rays on the beautiful water lilies and gum lined banks.
If you’re a keen canoer or paddle boarder then what better way to start the morning that on the water at Sunrise.

3. Sample a famous Quilpie Pie
Is there anything more iconic than the Aussie meat Pie? Nope! But did you know that Quilpie is home to the famous ‘Quilpie Pie’.
Quite a credential considering the calibre of meat pies all over the country. We know how good they are, but don’t take our word for it….you HAVE to try one yourself!

4. Play like a local
Get sporty while in Quilpie and join in the fun at the local Bowls and Golf Clubs.
The Quilpie Bowls club has social bowls most Sunday afternoons and everyone is welcome to come along for a roll! Good tunes by the bowls clubs legendary DJ extraordinaire Mr P. plus the added bonus of friendly company from the locals.
In the cooler months the Quilpie Golf Club is where all the excitement is. Events are usually held both Saturday and Sundays and is open to Golfers of all abilities.

5. Parmy Night
Wednesday’s in Quilpie is Parmy Night at TK’s at the Club, and who doesn’t love a good Chicken Parmy right?
Try the ‘Fungi’ or the ‘Outback’ or maybe a bit of fire with the ‘Mexican’.
There are 9 varieties to choose from, including a vegetarian option, all only $22 and served with chips and salad or vegetables.

6. Have a beer at Quilpie’s first Brick building
Head to the Heritage Inn and have yourself a nice cold beverage at the first building built in Quilpie that was made of anything other than Timber!
That’s right, this old pub (affectionately known as ‘The Brick’) was built in 1926 and has been lovingly restored to all its former glory.

8. ‘Get your rocks off’ at the Kangaranga Do
First let’s start by saying…..IT’S NOT WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE!
Annually, on the Tuesday night before the Birdsville Races, Quilpie’s main street comes alive with the Kangaranga Do Street Party. Music, bar, food, fun and iconic events such as the ‘Bath tub Derby’ and the famous ‘Get your rocks off’.
Get your rocks off is simple….teams of 4 unload and then reload a crate of rocks by hand. Fastest of the heats go to the final. Winner gets the cash!! A hotly contested battle and the signature event of this unique outback event!
